Unending To-do List

Piggy Bank May 11th, 2010

One of my to-do list (believe me, it’s a long one..) is to check our current stock of medicines.  We now have 3 canisters filled with different types of medicines and vitamins, for sure many of them are already expired.  I won’t be surprised to see prenatal vitamins from my first pregnancy, that’s more than 3 years ago. This is a simple thing to do but with all of the other stuff that needs to be done at home, sorting tablets and pills take the least priority.

Itchy Scratchy

Piggy Bank April 21st, 2010

One of these days, I will look up the Internet for natural adult acne treatments.  I think it is with age that I find more skin problems on my face more than ever before.  It sounds like I’m being too self-conscious but acne is something that shouldn’t be ignored.  Especially if it becomes itchy and it spreads all over your face!  Good luck to me, even if I find natural acne remedies, I still need to ask my folks, friends and if possible a doctor if it is indeed safe to use.

MIssing a Good Night’s Sleep

Piggy Bank April 21st, 2010

My little ’snacker’ of a boy still wakes up every 2-3 hours at night to feed.  He falls back to sleep after but there is something about the hour of 3 or 4am (which I call the magic hour) that sets him so awake enough to want to play.  So there goes my sleeping pattern.  I still miss being able to sleep through the night (without taking a sleep aid or pill), but I take comfort knowing that my son’s erratic night sleeping routine will eventually improve.

A Busy Year

Piggy Bank April 13th, 2010

One item on my to-do list this week is to book for our flight to Manila in December.  We plan to see Universal Studios in Singapore in January next year and I hope I’d a good deal for our tickets.  Fares wise, it will not be expensive as Branson vacation packages especially so that we don’t need to book a hotel anymore.  Our good family friends offered us a room in their condo unit near the city.  I don’t feel the excitement yet as it is too far off.  But I admit that the trip is something that my and my family look forward to, we consider it a reward for surviving an expected busy year.

A Big No

Piggy Bank April 11th, 2010

There was a huge sale at a sports shop back in Manila a week before we left.  I was so tempted to get an exercise machine to bring back to Sydney and I was that serious (well, almost) that I had one setup and tested.  But when I inquired about the weight, I was turned-off when I learned that it weighs a huge 10kgs.  Well, I guess it’s not meant to be.  And despite that, it’s still a no-no to weight loss pills for me.

Time Flies

Piggy Bank April 11th, 2010

Now that my little boy is already 6 months old (time flies sooo fast!), I’m already contemplating to do part-time work when he turns 1.  Whether there is an ideal part-time work for me out there is another topic but if I do find one, my husband and I will consider getting a carer for him.  What is encouraging though is that there are many part-time, temporary or contractual jobs in Sydney (like jobs Philly in the U.S.).  Well, 6 months is still far away.  It’s too early for me too seriously plan for this.

Bye-bye Junk

Piggy Bank April 11th, 2010

Since we arrived in Sydney, every day has become a ’spring cleaning’ day.  We were away for four long months and one can imagine how much junk mails we have received.  There were discount flyers, brochures, magazines, car insurance quotes and life insurance quotes.  I also had to sift through our personal files and removed very old bank and credit card statements.  I don’t know when my ’spring cleaning’ will end but I’m glad to see less junk around the house.  Who wouldn’t?

No Time to Play

Piggy Bank March 19th, 2010

I only recall playing with our Wii console a few times before things got busy in our household.  Good thing we didn’t buy Wii accessories anymore like additional controls or new games, otherwise, the money spent will only go to waste.  We often joke about it that by the time we can already play with it, the model that we have is completely obsolete.

Conscious Skin Care

Strawberry Fields March 19th, 2010

When I was pregnant with my first child, I had a bad case of acne.  I was so tempted to take medicines or apply Tazorac (an acne cream) at that time because I was still working and got very conscious.  Of course, I didn’t give in and waited until my face was cleared of those nasty acne.  On hindsight, I’ve had acne come and go but I never used creams or medicines, I hope I never have to for as long as I live.

Ageing Scare

Piggy Bank March 19th, 2010

My mom religiously applies moisturizers, toners and wrinkle creams daily.  I wish I have her discipline because my skin has been screaming for some tender, love and care!  I have been avoiding to stare at a mirror for fear of seeing more wrinkles, dark and dry spots, seriously.  I know I have to shape up and attend to my skin’s needs or else, I will pay for it someday.. soon!
