Over-Weight

Piggy Bank October 17th, 2009

I recently checked my weight on our scale and learned that I have 5 kgs of pregnancy weight to lose.  To some, it’s not a lot to worry about but for someone who doesn’t have an exercise regimen or a diet plan, 5 kgs is a lot!  It has been a little over three weeks since I gave birth and I’m giving myself a few months to eventually get rid of the unsightly flabs on my tummy and thighs.  I hope I can lose weight naturally because I have no plans to resort to weight loss pills that work.

Just ‘Google’ It

Piggy Bank October 13th, 2009

I can no longer remember the last time I used the yellow pages.  Since most of the businesses nowadays have presence on the world wide web, it is much easier for many people (like me) to “google” for contact numbers on the Internet as opposed to browsing the thick and musty smelling free directory.  But with this, I am overlooking the smaller businesses, which may not have websites but offer excellent service.

Green Shopping

Piggy Bank October 13th, 2009

Since Target  stores here in Australia introduced their recyclable plastic bags I had planned to buy an enviro-bag to bring with me each time I visit their store.  Thing is, I always end up buying a recyclable bag which is a measly 20 cents each but still, it is an extra cost.  So finally, I got myself an enviro-bag, which I got from Target, too.  It feels good to take part in their “green shopping” campaign.

Spic and Span

We had a friend help us with cleaning our kitchen a few weekends ago.  I was amazed on how she managed to make the cabinets, pantry and even the floor tiles sparkling clean!  Seriously.  I felt that the fee she asked for was not enough because she really did a good job.  I hope we can have her again in the coming weekend.  We need a good head start in having the whole apartment clean.  While I’ll be busy tidying up the details of our rooms, she can keep the rest of the apartment as neat as a pin!

Ready for Action

Piggy Bank September 18th, 2009

My uber old iBook is now ready for action!  After a quick reformat, I was able to restore pretty much all the applications I need (mostly photo editing software) for our trip to the Philippines this year.  I will be bringing my dslr with me, which I missed using for a really long time and that only means I’ll be taking tons of photos during our vacation.  Maybe I should consider getting an additional external hard drive or get paid online storage because for sure I’ll be needing tons of space for my photo files!

More Pregnancy Thoughts

Piggy Bank September 16th, 2009

I noticed that most (if not all) the entries on my working blogs of late are related to my pregnancy! That shows that it is what occupies my mind for the last.. well, 8 1/2 months!  Hee hee.   Not that I’m complaining though.  At this point, we are so looking forward to the day that we see the new addition to our family.  Children may sometimes cause you to grab the next best wrinkle cream in the market (ha!) but the joy they bring is just priceless!

Out of the Dark

My husband and I agree that the owner of the apartment we’re currently renting could have invested in better and more suitable lighting fixtures.  They don’t have to be necessarily expensive or they could just be discount lighting.  But what’s important is that a room is well-lit without having to switch on more than one ceiling lighting, which of course translates to more energy consumption or higher power bills.

A SAHM Anniversary

Piggy Bank August 23rd, 2009

This October marks my second year as a stay-at-home mom.  The first year was a roller-coaster ride of emotions, with one moment missing the corporate life and the next, loving every minute of looking after my family.  This year is a lot better, I should say.  I am more focused on my family with the new baby coming and from time to time thinking of potential career alternatives when the right time comes.

I so wish that I have a knack for managing my own business, something that will keep me busy outside my regular house duties.  My husband “played” with the idea and said that it could be a mobile car wash business that will not require a huge capital (just enough to buy equipments like pressure washers and such) or a food franchise.  It’s kind of exciting to think about it but it’s still too far off.  I’ll think about this seriously in a few years’ time.

Two in Tow

Piggy Bank August 23rd, 2009

With two kids in tow during our flight to our home country this year, I’m already anticipating the number of luggage I would need to prepare.  Bulk of the packing, for sure, will include their toys, books and other stuff that they will definitely need and look for once we settle in Manila.  There’s no way that I’ll be checking-in a box since lugging it around will be a huge hassle, so this means that we need an extra luggage.  And I think, a sturdy and slim Eagle Creek luggage would do.

Nesting

Piggy Bank August 23rd, 2009

Seems like I’ve been ‘nesting’ during the whole duration of my pregnancy.  The few furniture (e.g. center table, TV stand, sofa) and appliance that we have in our living room have been moved over five times for the past eight months.  If I could, I would still re-arrange them now but of course, I’d be too crazy to do it with my term nearing.
