Kitchen Adventures

Piggy Bank June 2nd, 2010

If I were an active blogger, I would be posting a lot of “firsts” about my life as a stay-at-home.  Some are trivial, funny, shocking and sad but there are lessons learned in each experience.  Even the ones as mundane as removing scales from a fish.  Yes, it was my first time to do it here in Australia.  Then it even got ‘complicated’ when I bought a fish that still had its ‘insides’ in it.  Acck.  The highs and lows of being a stay at home mom. Hee.

Keeping Watch

Piggy Bank June 2nd, 2010

My 3 1/2 yrs old daughter learned how to navigate around you tube pretty quickly.  I make sure that I’m nearby when she watches her favorite clips there because there are a lot of ‘trashy’ ones.  Once, she clicked on a Dora video that looked so ‘innocent’ at first but turned out included a lot of cursing and foul language.  From then on, I became more vigilant in letting her use you tube.  I don’t want her to land on sites promoting bad language, sex (or extenze) or other adult materials.

Multiplicity

Piggy Bank May 31st, 2010

I need to update my personal information on my life insurance plan.  I have to add my youngest child as beneficiary.  I forgot to do it when I was in Manila last but this item is on my to-do list on my next trip back.  Little things like this is hard to monitor with all other major things happening almost daily.  I wish sometimes for the movie Multiplicity to happen to me.  But only when I want and need to. Hee.

My Health Watch

Piggy Bank May 30th, 2010

My husband is pretty good in the area of taking supplements and making sure he eats the right kind of foods.  Well as for me, I’m a bit slacking in those areas.  He regularly takes men’s vitamins, his vitamin Cs, etc every single day.  I told him that in order for me to have the same discipline to take care of myself, he should remind me about my vitamins and diet everyday.  He he.  As if he owes me to take care of my own health.

Just a Tad Confused

Piggy Bank May 30th, 2010

With all the enticing ad commercials and catchy gimmicks I see everyday on TV, I wonder what age spot removal creams work best?  Or do they all?  They promote amazing effects in a few weeks’ of usage and it sounds, well, too good to be true!  I haven’t bought one in my lifetime but I’m sure it won’t be long before I do.  So now I’m a tad confused which brand I should go for.

My Last Hong Bao

Piggy Bank May 30th, 2010

In my six years of staying in Singapore, I never missed celebrating Chinese New Year without receiving RedEnvelope gifts.  They usually come from my bosses at work and though the amount is not the objective of giving out red packets, as they more popularly called, all of us employees are thrilled to receive such thoughtfulness.  But it has been three years’ since the last red packet and mandarin oranges I received.  And I kinda miss it.

Value for Money

Our car insurance is not due yet for renewal but if I get the chance, I’ll start scouting for other options with our requirements in mind.  Ours may not be the cheapest car insurance around and I want to make sure that we are getting what we are paying for.  Hopefully I get this done soon.

A Good Buy

Piggy Bank May 13th, 2010

We were at two different malls two Sundays ago scouting for the best TV we can buy.  It was a toss between Samsung and Sony, and after careful consideration, we ended up buying a Sony TV.  So far we like our new tube and we enjoy watching DVDs more.  Our next purchase?  Probably a new home theater system to go with it.

Not This Time

Piggy Bank May 13th, 2010

Now is not the time to think of diets that work or natural ways to lose weight.  With the demands of motherhood that keep me on my toes every single day, the last thing I need is a weak and sickly body.  There may never be a time that I’ll be free to focus on just myself but I’ll never trade this experience for the world.

The Question is When?

Piggy Bank May 13th, 2010

Sometimes I wonder if I’d ever have the time to exercise.  Not that I’m ecstatic about the idea, but I know I need to do a fair bit of exercise if I want to keep healthy.  Not to mention to lose my jelly belly that seems to be here for good.  I’m not really keen to do ab workouts or any exercise that will target specific parts of the body but a dance exercise or something like taebo would do it for me.  But then again, the question is when?
