(Sago’t gulaman is one of my favorite Filipino refreshments. This refreshing drink made of shaved ice, cold water, caramelized sugar, sago pearls and jelly is a perfect treat during summer.

This is my interpretation of this week’s theme. Bow.)

Ang sago’t gulaman ay isa sa paborito kong inuming panlamig sa Pilipinas. Ito ay binubuo ng yelo, tubig, arnibal, sago at gulaman na bagay na bagay tuwing tag-init.

At ito ang lahok ko para sa tema natin ngayong linggo. Bow.

(This was taken at the backyard of my parents’ house in the Philippines, New Year’s 2008. Looking at this made me reminisce about the fun times we had during our vacation. I am so looking forward to our next trip home!}

Ito ay kuha ko sa likod bahay ng pamilya ko sa Pilipinas, Bagong Taon 2008. Pag tinitingnan ko ang litratong ito ay naaalala ko ang mga masasayang oras namin nung aming bakasyon. Inaasam ko ang susunod naming pag-uwi!

(This photo was taken using my phonecam in Singapore, October 2007. My mother came to help us in our move from Singapore to Sydney. It was a very busy time for all of us and on our last day there, we went to Delifrance with my husband and baby to take a quick break.

This is just one of the major events in my life where my mother played a big role. I don’t think we’d manage to achieve a smooth transition if not for her.)

Kuha ko ito gamit ang cellphone ko sa Singapore noong October 2007. Nagpunta sa Singapore ang aking ina para tulungan kami sa aming paglipat mula Singapore papuntang Sydney. Madami kaming inaasikaso noon at nung huling araw namin ay nagpunta kami sa Delifrance kasama ang aking asawa at anak para makapahinga ng kaunti.

Isa lang ito sa mga mahahalagang pangyayari sa buhay ko na kasama ko ang aking ina. Marahil ay hindi magiging maayos ang paglipat namin papunta dito kung hindi dahil sa kanya.

(This is my daughter Amelie. She was heavily teething at the time I took the pic. I also have an entry in my personal blog using this photo. She was really sad and irritated at the time. No amount of teething gel or teethers helped.)

Ito ang anak ko na si Amelie. Kinuhanan ko itong litrato nung kasalukuyang nag-ngingipin sya. Mayroon akong isinulat tungkol dito sa personal kong blog na gamit rin ang litratong ito. Malungkot at madaling syang mainis nung panahon na iyon. Walang teething gel o teethers na nakatulong.

(My entry for this week at Litratong Pinoy was shot in Pampanga in 2005. This is near the Lighthouse Grill cafe/restaurant within The Lakeshore Estate. The food at the Lighthouse Grill is really good especially the crispy tilapia which is their bestseller. There should be a lot of residents at the Lakeshore now compared to 2005 when the estate was just newly built.)

Ang lahok kong ito sa Litratong Pinoy ay kuha sa Pampanga noong 2005. Malapit ito sa Lighthouse Grill cafe/restaurant sa loob ng The Lakeshore. Masarap ang pagkain sa Lighthouse Grill lalo na ang crispy tilapia na sikat sa kanila. Malamang sa ngayon ay marami na ang nakatira sa Lakeshore dahil noong 2005 ay nagsisimula pa lamang magtayo ng mga bahay doon.

(We visited Ground Zero in 2005. I had mixed feelings of sadness and presentiment when I saw the whole area. Presentiment because I imagined how the victims tried to escape the Twin Towers by jumping off these tall buildings. The same with the ones who were left to die inside trying to escape.

There were fresh flowers hanging on the fences, huge billboards with the names of those who died and there was a man playing what seemed to me as tunes of sorrow on the violin. There was a huge cross in the middle of Ground Zero built in remembrance to the lives lost in this disastrous event.)

Nakarating kami dito sa Ground Zero noong 2005. May halong lungkot at kaba akong mararamdaman nung nakita ko ito. Kaba dahil bigla kong naisip kung paano nagsipagtalon ang mga biktima mula sa Twin Towers sa kagustuhan nilang makatakas. Ganun din para sa mga naiwan sa loob at nagsumikap makalabas.

Sa bakuran nito ay may mga nakasabit na mga bulaklak, mga nakapaskel na pangalan ng mga nasawi at mayroon pang tagaroon na tumutugtog ng violin. Naglagay sila ng malaking krus bilang pag-alaala sa maraming buhay na naglaho dahil sa pangyayaring ito

(This photo was taken last month. It was a Saturday and it was raining the whole week prior, so when the sunny weather came, we all went to the city to enjoy the views. In photo is the tip of the Sydney Opera House.)

Ito ay kuha ko noong nakaraang buwan. Isang Sabado yun at buong linggo na sunod-sunod na araw ang pag-ulan, kaya nung maganda ang panahon ng umagang iyon, dali-dali kaming nagpunta sa siyudad para mamasyal. Ang tatsulok na ito ay ang tuktok ng Sydney Opera House.

These two have a very beautiful and colorful relationship and their wedding only made us all the more happy for both of them. I hope we can get together again someday.)

Itong ang aking unang pagkakataon na sumali sa Litratong Pinoy. Ang mga sing-sing na ito ay pag-aari ng mga kaibigan kong sina Mar1car at J0bal. Kuha ko ito noong binisita ko sila sa San Francisco, USA noong 2005.

Maganda at makulay ang samahan ng dalawa at ang pag-iisang dibdib nila ay ikinatuwa naming lahat na mga kaibigan nila. Sana ay magkasama-sama ulit kaming magkakaibigan balang araw.
