During my pregnancy, my obstetrician gave us a brief orientation about cord blood donation. The cord blood is said to be rich with known cell types to help with bone marrow transplants. That is the first time I heard about life-saving stem cells.

Who would have thought that this form of stem cells could also be found in menstrual blood? We have known this to be purely a waste but research by C’elle has shown that these can potentially treat diseases like diabetes, Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s, to name a few.

Some may be easily put-off with the idea of harvesting menstrual flow and subjecting it for research but with the end-goal in mind, it becomes more of a practical move to take part in this study. Imagine having a ready-cure for the donor or her first-degree family for these known life-threatening illnesses?

It is true that stem cell research can be a controversial topic for some people. But with good education campaign and even a peek on C’elle Client Testimonials will greatly help achieve awareness. The developments of this study can be tracked through C’elle’s website, in their About the Science page.
