When I hear of a person’s death to lung cancer, my immediate thought is that the person could have been a heavy smoker. But what I didn’t know is that this cancer can also stem from exposure to asbestos, which is called mesothelioma.

I have read articles about lawsuits being filed against some companies in the asbestos industry, which at some point became negligent in ensuring the employees exposed to asbestos wear proper protective equipment.

What’s interesting to note is that the effect of this becomes apparent only 20 to 50 years after exposure. Unfortunately, to date there is no known cure to this disease but only treatments.
